In the beginning there was one blog (although the term hadn`t been thought of at the time) and now there are millions of them. And here is another one, the very first blog from Mazie & Jacque!

We will just be adding interesting and useful things as we go along, with no particular timescale. That way we can be sure that everything we add is worth blogging about!

So please keep coming back, when you`ve got a little time to spare, and have a read. We hope you will find it informative and helpful

Size - How BIG is it an issue for you?

Browse through our Online Store product descriptions and, in the great majority of cases, you will come across a heading called Size Choice and you will be presented with a selection of months or years. But wait, since when have months and years been a measure of size? Well actually, in "Baby World", quite some time! But why?
We all know that babies come into this world in different sizes and begin to grow up at different rates. The number of these differences is enormous. For brands to supply baby clothes in a precise choice of dimensions, such as length (eg centimetres) and weight (eg kilogrammes), for every baby at every precise birth size and every precise development size, would be an extremely difficult task indeed. Our product descriptions would probably take up several pages for one item!
And so this is where the use of months (and sometimes years) comes in. With the general exception of premature baby clothes, you will find the great majority of baby clothes descriptions will offer sizes in months (plus Newborn - 0 months!). This is to guide you into choosing the right piece of clothing for your baby. Using age as a guide, you can make a pretty good assessment of how big an item of clothing needs to be at any particular stage of development, bearing in mind that you are not looking for a fashion perfect fit and that babies will rapidly change their size.
But it is a GOOD IDEA to consult our Size Guide as well. This is intended to "home in" for you on a more accurate size for any given age, but do remember that it can be ONLY a guide! As well as the link given at the beginning of this paragraph, you will find a link to our Size Guide at the top of every single page of this Online Store.

And now for the nitty gritty!

Babies (up to 12 months)

Up to 3 Months

Setting out your little 'un's wardrobe, the newborn phase is the busiest. Within the first few months, a baby can grow at a fair rate and, depending on each individual, can be well ahead of the perceived normal height and weight.

Your best bet is to buy clothing items that will last for the first three or so months. Given fast growth rates, it won't be long before your baby will fit into these items. While measurement isn't an exact science, we would say that 0-3 months would measure at around 14.5 lbs (6.5 kg) in weight and 24.4 inches (62 cm) in height. However, this isn't a one size fits all deal, simply an average – it may well be that some babies enjoy more of a growing phase than others!

3-6 Months

While the All In One/Sleepsuit is a popular choice for newborns, for 3-6 month old baby will begin to develop their own sense of style (with a little help from mum and dad!). At this point, you can start to choose more advanced outfits as well as jumpers, skirts and dresses. Rompers are also highly recommended for the 3-6 month old, who at this stage, will be crawling, wriggling and moving around a lot more.

Size-wise, we say that 17.5 lbs (8 kg) weight and 27 inches (68.5 cm) are fair measurements for this age – although again, this will depend on each individual's growth rates.

6-12 Months

Where does a year go? Your baby boy or girl will be getting comfortable in a great choice of clothes, and you can find plenty of unique styles and designs in our store!

We recommend that in terms of size, a six to 12 month old baby would fit a 20-23 lbs (9-10.5 kg) weight bracket and a height of around 29 to 31.5 inches in height.
